February 7, 2015: Public Opening
Doors open at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This is the moment you’ve been waiting for! Be the first to view this special exhibition honoring 400 years of African American history through the visual medium of story quilts. Admission: $12; seniors (60+), students, and military with I.D. $10; and children ages 5-12 $9. Members and children ages 4 and under are free.
February 16, 2015: Discovery Day – America’s Melting Pot

February 20, 2015 Homeschool Day – African American Art Excursion
10 a. m., 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m.
Discover four fascinating centuries of African American history in our And Still We Rise quilt exhibit. Celebrate Black History Month through hands-on activities that focus on African culture, African American artists, and the people who changed the world. February 21, 2015: Highwaymen Event
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Experience the beauty of the Highwaymen paintings, not just for the stunning landscapes of Florida, but also for their true rags to riches story; one that began in the trunk of a car, but now finds itself in prestigious museums. Join five of the Highwaymen artists Saturday, February 21 at 11 a.m. Access to this event includes the price of admission.
March 28, 2015: Eatonville Quilters
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Get a behind-the-scenes look of how story quilts are made from the Quilters from Eatonville. Learn how the quilters developed the art of story quilting from older family members. Eatonville was the first African American town in the U.S., and the quilts these women make reflect that heritage. Access to this event includes the price of admission.
April 9, 2015: Praise Day: Celebration of African American Music
6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
One of Central Florida’s most dynamic praise teams visits the History Center again for an historic journey of African American music. Join us April 9 at 6 p.m. as we welcome the Mt. Olive Seventh-day Adventist Praise Team for a grandiose performance that will surely lift your spirits and make joyous memories! Light refreshments will be provided.
April 17, 2015: Homeschool Day – Adventures of a Colonist
10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m.
