LECTURE: African American Art in the 20th Century
Join Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Curator Virginia Mecklenburg for an in-depth look into the diverse perspectives that make up the American story as reflected by the broad selection of works in this exhibition. The lecture will focus on the artistic production that emerged during the Harlem Renaissance and throughout the decades that followed, culminating in the civil rights movement. African American Art in the 20th Century is organized by the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The C.F. Foundation in Atlanta supports the museum’s traveling exhibition program, Treasures to Go.
