Even though he died in 1321, Dante Alighieri—the Florentine author of the Divine Comedy—has inspired visual artists for centuries. In this lecture, former Fred Hicks Curatorial Fellow Isaac Gorres will discuss the artistic legacy of Dante, citing artworks ranging from the Italian Quattrocento to the contemporary era. In addition to complementing the accompanying exhibition, this lecture will serve as a space to dissect the myriad of ways that Dante is connected to the Rollins campus.
